Setting : Inpatient, cardiac surgery

Schedule : Full-time 3x13s, rotating. Premium differentials offered.

About the Opportunity :

  • As a vital member of the Cardiac Surgery team, the APP will deliver expert, compassionate care to patients in our 18-bed Cardiac Surgery intensive care unit (ICU), step-down unit, and floor settings. Responsibilities include :
  • Managed preoperative and postoperative care for cardiac surgery patients.
  • Perform bedside procedures including central venous and arterial line placement, intra-aortic balloon pump removal, etc.
  • Provide care for patients undergoing advanced procedures, including heart transplants, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), mechanical circulatory support, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, developing individualized care plans, and closely monitoring progress.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of teamwork and concise communication to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Support seamless transitions of care between the ICU, step-down, and floor settings.
  • Provide patient and family education, ensuring a clear understanding of the surgical process and recovery journey.
  • Schedule : Full-time employment includes day / night / weekend / holiday rotation. Permanent night positions are available. Premium night / weekend differentials offered.
  • Call schedule : No call

    Qualifications

    Qualifications :

  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (APRN), preferably with 1 years of relevant experience in Cardiac Surgery, critical care, or surgical settings.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Connecticut.
  • Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
