POSITION: Temporary Behavior Technician (iGOAL) until June 30, 2025

REPORTS TO: Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To implement a positive behavior management system in order to increase student behavior and academic skills. The management of the behavior system includes but is not limited to: collecting and tracking of data pertaining to student and school wide patterns, the training of staff in de-escalation, implementation of positive behavior plans and climate improvement. This is a Temporary Position until June 30, 2025.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment
- Records behavioral and all pertinent data in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner as directed
- Reviews data regularly and notifies supervisor(s) of any relevant information
- Conducts reliability checks on the implementation of the Behavior System by staff
- Meets with Mental Health Staff as assigned to review student issues
- Prepares and disseminates behavior reports
- Leads FBA interviews
Management
- Supports the character education/behavioral program in fostering a therapeutic milieu
- Supports teaching staff in the implementation of the educational and social-emotional curriculum
- Supports students in the acquisition/mastery of the educational and social-emotional curriculum
- Implements and supports the program’s behavior management system
- Supports teaching staff in the implementation of the behavior management system
- Implements a variety of verbal management techniques
- Implements positive programming to increase students behavioral and academic skills
- Participates in crisis management as directed
- Assists in the development of staff/student training materials
- Uses all relevant computer software programs
- Supports the school’s after-school program
- Provides behavior support for off-ground activities
Communication
- Participates in all staff/student meetings as directed.
- Schedules meetings with students/parents to discuss concerns.
- Keeps relevant teaching staff, the behavior analyst, and the principal updated throughout the day as to the behavior status of the students.
- Demonstrates appropriate radio terminology and usage at all times.
- Communicates in an appropriate professional manner with others at all times.
- Completes all forms, reports, and paperwork in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
- Communicates with ACES employees, outside agencies, and parent/guardians regarding student needs.
Learning Climate
- Maintains clean and orderly areas of student use
- Interacts in a therapeutic and professional manner with students, staff, parents and community members at all times
- Promotes student learning whenever possible using efficient intervention strategies to maximize instructional time
- Creates/provides positive programming for students whenever possible
- Provides behavioral learning opportunities for staff including training of staff to respective character education program (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Participates in assigned training and staff development opportunities
- Seeks out training and professional development opportunities
- Develops and completes yearly performance goals
- Uses all relevant computer software programs including, but not limited to PowerSchool, SWIS, etc. (preferred)
- Complies with all relevant policies and procedures
- Organizes and maintains student/program information
- Complies with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Analyzes discipline/behavioral data monthly to guide intervention and identify students in need of services
- Is active member in Character Education Program Team at their respective school (PBIS, Capturing Kids Hearts, etc. preferred)
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college
- Knows and understands district policies and procedures including FERPA and “Use of Force Policy” (preferred)
- Knows and understands Behavior Services policies and procedures
- Knows and understands the respective program’s behavior management system (preferred)
- Knows and understands verbal intervention/de-escalation techniques
- Knows and understands Crisis Prevention Intervention procedures (preferred)
- Knows and understands crisis management procedures
- Knows and understands character education program procedures (preferred)
- Knows and understands all individual behavior management programs in use
- Knows and understands how to use all relevant computer software programs (PowerSchool, SWIS, etc. preferred)
- Knows and understands how to document interventions appropriately using all state/district forms (preferred)
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Able to complete Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) upon obtaining employment.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11-month work year. Salary Grid: B500 ($56,612 - $68,189)
