Position Summary
The Sales Team Member for Hardware, Electrical, Plumbing, and Paint plays a key role in assisting customers with their home improvement and repair needs. This position involves providing expert product recommendations, answering technical questions, and ensuring that customers have the right tools and materials for their projects. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, customer-focused, and eager to help customers find solutions while maintaining a well-stocked and organized department.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Assist customers in selecting the right hardware, electrical, plumbing, and paint products for their projects.
- Provide basic to advanced advice on product usage, installation, and maintenance.
- Build positive relationships with customers by offering exceptional service.
- Resolve customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Product Knowledge & Support
- Understand and explain the features, benefits, and applications of tools, hardware, electrical, plumbing, and paint products.
- Guide customers in selecting the correct materials for repairs, renovations, and DIY projects.
- Offer troubleshooting assistance for common home improvement issues.
Merchandising & Inventory Management
- Ensure products are well-stocked, correctly labeled, and attractively displayed.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe for both customers and employees.
Team Collaboration & Store Operations
- Work closely with team members to provide a seamless shopping experience.
- Follow store policies and safety guidelines while handling products and assisting customers.
- Assist with promotional events, sales initiatives, and product training sessions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Retail or customer service experience preferred, especially in hardware, electrical, plumbing, or paint.
- Basic knowledge of home improvement, repairs, and building materials.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move products (depending on department needs).
- A friendly, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work in an often fast-paced changing environment
- Adept Listener with a teachable attitude
- Proven and reliable work ethic
- Technology Proficiency: Comfort with using point-of-sale systems and other technology to process orders and payments.
Availability Requirements

Must be available to work one evening until 7pm and most Saturdays.
- Store Hours are Monday-Friday 6am-7pm and Saturday 7am-5pm
- Positions start in June and July
