Job Summary:
The DESTINO Facilitator builds relationships with the Latino community to benefit and empower Latino families with the resources needed to achieve their educational goals for their youth. The program is focused on academics, tutoring, life-skills activities, and community service.
Required Qualifications:
Professional Educator License (PEL)
Bilingual required; ESL endorsement or equivalent.
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Certified.

Terms of Employment:
This is a part-time, hourly position for four weeks, from June 2nd to June 26th, with an additional four days of planning and professional development to be determined.
- Hours: 4 hours a day, Monday through Thursday
- Compensation: $35.00 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads oracy based activities designed to focus on speaking and listening domains and establishing a foundation for early English Learners.
- Embeds foundational vocabulary intended to support ELD acquisition of informal language
- Responsible for the participant recruitment, planning, preparation, and implementation of the curriculum.
- Incorporate visual supports and scaffolds to support students engaging in dialogue, role-playing, music, and the like.
- Adapts curriculum and instruction to the interests and needs of the individuals within the group.
- Works collaboratively with external partners with a focused interest in relationship building, acclimation to the United States, and adaptation to a new school.
- Shows a genuine interest in the participants and in the material being presented.
- Implements and models an asset-based approach to working with students founded in prevention and intervention.
- Demonstrates and implements restorative practices in the classroom setting as needed.
- Arrives one-half hour before each presentation to prepare and to greet participants as they arrive.
- Responsible for the completion of the pre- and post-surveys, as requested by the Director.
Physical Demands:
A classroom teacher's physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and sitting periods. Teachers must be able to move around the classroom to interact with students, manage classroom activities, and assist with assignments or group work. The role requires occasional lifting or carrying of instructional materials, books, or classroom supplies. Teachers must be able to use various teaching tools, including technology, whiteboards, and classroom equipment. Clear verbal communication is essential for delivering lessons and engaging with students. Managing classroom behavior, which may require movement around the room to provide individual support, is necessary. Additionally, the teacher may need to assist with physical tasks related to classroom setup, such as arranging furniture or preparing materials. The position also requires maintaining focus and energy throughout the school day, often managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
