You will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes. You are responsible for entering patient information, submitting insurance claims, and resolving billing issues. JOB DUTIES
- Ensure precise entry of patient information, insurance details, diagnosis and treatment codes, and provider information into billing systems to facilitate error-free insurance claims processing.
- Verify that clinic records contain all necessary information required for insurance reimbursement, including documentation of services provided and any applicable modifiers
- Submit insurance claims promptly and accurately, electronically or via paper, to ensure prompt payment and minimize delays in reimbursement
- Prepare and submit secondary claims as necessary upon processing by primary insurers, ensuring all avenues for reimbursement are pursued efficiently
- Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or rejected claims, actively pursuing resolution and re-submitting claims as needed to maximize reimbursement
- Generate weekly and monthly reports of billing activities, providing insights into claim status, reimbursement trends, and areas for improvement
- Attend training sessions to stay abreast of changes in insurance billing procedures, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and industry standards
- Address patient inquiries regarding billing matters, including patient-responsible portions, co-pays, deductibles, and any denied claims, providing clear explanations and resolutions to ensure patient satisfaction

- Ability to meticulously enter and review patient information, insurance details, and billing codes to ensure accuracy and minimize errors in claims processing
- Proficiency in managing multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing workload effectively, and maintaining orderly documentation of billing records and reports
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact professionally with therapy staff, patients, insurance carriers, and other office personnel
- Aptitude for identifying and resolving billing discrepancies, why claims were denied, and insurance-related issues promptly and efficiently to optimize reimbursement
- Capability to work efficiently within deadlines, complete billing tasks promptly, and adapt to changing priorities or urgent requests as needed
- Dedication to providing exceptional service to patients, addressing their billing inquiries with patience, empathy, and professionalism, and striving to resolve issues promptly to ensure patient satisfaction
- Flexibility to adjust to evolving insurance regulations, billing procedures, and technological advancements in the healthcare industry, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality, integrity, and ethical standards in handling sensitive patient information, billing practices, and interactions with insurance carriers and patients
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate's degree in a relevant field such as healthcare administration, medical billing and coding, or business administration is preferred but not always required
- At least two years of experience in clerical/office support work is desired, particularly in a healthcare setting
- Experience in medical billing, insurance claims processing, or healthcare administration is highly advantageous
- Familiarity with billing software, electronic health record systems, and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software is beneficial
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The ability to sit for extended periods at a desk while performing billing tasks, entering data, and managing paperwork
- Occasionally lifting objects weighing up to 15 pounds, such as files, paperwork, or office supplies
- Proficiency in working on a computer, including typing, data entry, and using billing software or electronic health record systems
- Some mobility may be required within the office environment, such as moving between workstations or accessing filing cabinets
- The ability to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment accurately and efficiently
