JOB SUMMARY:
• To help support the produce department needs by receiving, stocking, culling, and helping with customer purchases and otherwise assist customers.
• Reports to: Produce Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
CUSTOMER SERVICE
• Become familiar with store policies and take initiative to help customers with product questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to Manager on Duty or other appropriate staff.
• Provide assistance with special orders.
• Provide prompt, friendly and courteous customer service while waiting on customers and responding to phone calls.
• Report customer suggestions, comments and complaints to appropriate management.
• When processing deliveries, set aside special orders, match products with special order forms and notify customers.
• Offer suggestions for purchases and ways to prepare products in a friendly, courteous manner.
STOCKING
• Stock displays fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves.
• Rotate older stock to front, making space for new stock.
• Pull short-date or low-quality items and follow established procedures for recording and disposing of them.
• Label items accurately with price tags or signs. Report price discrepancies to POS staff/department buyers.
• Take inventories of department stock for buyers as requested. Notify buyers/POS staff of out-of-stocks.
• Maintain stocking lists for later shifts.
• Check for back stock when stocking.
DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE
• Keep shelves, coolers, bins and back stock in clean, orderly condition.
• Dust and clean shelves and product when stocking.
• Remove trash promptly, sweep and mop floor.
• Keep department equipment in assigned area and in working order.
• Use equipment safely. Advise Shift Leaders of equipment problems.
• Record department shrink promptly and accurately.
• Participate in periodic inventory counts.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Attend general staff meetings and storewide meetings.
• Perform other tasks assigned by Produce Manager.
• Answer and route phone calls, take and route messages as needed.
• Alert Shift Leaders to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers or other emergencies.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. continuously.
