What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Hascall Steel Company?
Hascall Steel Company is a leading Midwest Steel Service Center, and we are looking to add experienced Machine Operators to our team.

SUMMARY
The Machine Operator sets up and operates machine equipped with shear blade to cut steel to a specified length and slitting knives to slit steel to a specific width by performing the following duties.
- Ability to use hand tools including but not limited to tape measure, calipers and micrometer.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand charts/work orders.
- Sets up machine per cutting diagrams listed on work orders or best possible setup to minimize scrap.
- Completes the electronic variable control chart (EVCC) while processing work order. Performs required inspections and identifies suspected non-conforming material. Notifies supervisor of suspect material.
- Completes all documents involved with the work order: EVCC, ship tags, inventory tags before moving onto next job.
- Organizes and maintains tools and maintains good housekeeping practices.
Steel Service Center or Steel Processing experience preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of a Machine Operator, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of a Machine Operator, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
