What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASPIRE Religion Program Associate position at Hastings College?
Job Purpose:
The Program Associate will play a critical role in the implementation of ASPIRE (Academy of Student Preachers Inspiring Religious Engagement), an initiative funded by a $1.12 million grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. Implemented over a five-year period, ASPIRE is an intergenerational program focused on cultivating preaching that compels diverse audiences, especially young adults, by communicating Biblical teachings in ways that draw upon contemporary culture and digital platforms. ASPIRE’s components include a Christian Ministry Program and scholarships for Hastings College students, a Digital Sermon Library, a summer Compelling Preaching Conference for active pastors and seminary students, and a residential summer program, Open Call, for high school students discerning a call to ministry.
The Program Associate is a 20-hour per week position that will work closely with the Project Director in managing all aspects of the ASPIRE program and the role reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The main function of the Program Associate will be planning and implementing events related to ASPIRE, with emphasis on facilities and budget.
Plan events related to the ASPIRE program including summer conferences, travel, room preparation, registration, communication, etc.- Assist the Program Director in managing the ASPIRE budget in accordance with guidelines issued by the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
- Assist with basic financial tasks such as processing invoices, tracking expenses, and budget monitoring.
- Manage food, lodging, and other arrangements for the Compelling Preaching Conference and Open Call.
- Create and distribute the ASPIRE e-newsletter and ASPIRE social media.
- Build and manage a database of Presbyterian pastors and ASPIRE program participants.
- Assist with fundraising.
- Assist with communications to adjudicatory bodies to arrange speaking engagements for ASPIRE speakers.
- Learn to use/operate any new job related software and equipment. Participate in designated meetings and mandatory trainings.
- Consistently model a high degree of professional communication and customer service.
- Work collaboratively and support other team members.
- Professionally represent Hastings College at all times.
- Actively support the mission of Hastings College.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree and two years related event management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The Program Associate must be detail oriented and have knowledge of Google Suite, and Excel.
