What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Inspector position at Hastings Mutual?
Hastings Insurance is looking for a Property Inspector to join its Internal Audit team! The individual in this role position reinspects, analyzes, and evaluates the estimates of repair for property claims created by Hastings Insurance (HI) claim representatives or third-party property vendors.
Position Location & Work Format
The Property Inspector role is remote-based, with the individual working from home and traveling to locations frequently within its assigned territory, which will include overnight travel. A company vehicle, laptop, cell phone, and other necessary equipment will be provided. Work will generally be conducted Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. However, given the nature of the role, work outside of these hours may occur.
The individual in this role will ideally reside in the lower central Michigan or central Indiana region, to allow for travel to our five coverage states : Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs an average of 30 reinspections per month including both physical and virtual inspections. A reinspection will include validation of the loss inspection, scope of damages, adjusters' written estimates, and identified potential variances.
- Develops positive and productive business relationships with the claim staff, independent adjusters, and property vendors.
- Works in conjunction with the Claim department staff and hired outside vendors to ensure HI provides prompt and courteous service in accord with the Claim department best practices and corporate service goals.
Partners with designated teams in developing quality improvement strategies. This will include participation in vendor meetings to ensure compliance with best practices and quality improvement.
