About The Role:

Expression is seeking a Mid-Level Data Engineer to support the continued growth of their Data Science Department.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with program managers and product owners to develop and deliver products that customers love.
• Lead cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, architects, and subject matter experts through all phases of the data science lifecycle.
• Lead the design, development, testing, and documentation of software code and data pipelines (batch and streaming) for data extraction, ingestion, transformation, cleaning, correlation, and analytics.
• Architect, develop, and scale new data services/products, ensuring robust performance and operational efficiency.
• Drive excellence in Data Science and Engineering while fostering a culture of innovation.
• Perform quality management and performance reviews.
• Work in a consultative fashion to improve communication, collaboration, and alignment within the Data Science Department and across the organization.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of white papers and proposals, supporting business growth through technical expertise.
• Provide strategic insights on product development and long-term data management approaches
• Participate in research, case studies, and prototype development to explore and leverage cutting-edge technologies.
• Help to recruit, mentor, and retain top data science and engineering talent.

Required Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience working as a data engineer or data scientist with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Data Science/Statistics or relevant discipline, 8 years of experience, with MS, or 5 years of experience with PhD.
• Current Security certification (or must obtain within 30 days)
• Mastery in developing software code in one or more programming languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, Matlab, etc.)
• 5 years of experience creating ETL processes and working with a variety of databases (SQL, NoSQL, Graph, etc.) and data architectures (Data Lake, Lakehouse)
• 3 years of experience leading a team in an Agile environment.
• 3 years of experience in short-release cycles and the full software lifecycle.
• Knowledgeable in machine learning/AI methodologies
• Strong writing and oral communication skills to deliver design documents, technical reports, and presentations to a variety of audiences
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Azure solutions (Databricks, Spark Streaming, OpenAI Service).
• Experience with PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, and graph databases.
• Experience with GenAI enabled daily workflows (coding, testing, analytics).
• Experience with one or more SQL-on-Hadoop technology (Spark SQL, Hive, Impala, Presto, etc.)
