About the Role:

JDSAT is seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join their team. The qualified candidate will be educated and experienced in a field related to data science, such as statistics, economics, computer science, operations research, data analytics, or similar. Candidate must be able to operate as part of a multi-disciplinary team and comfortable with data management, data exploration, and data visualization. The data scientist will liaise with data owners, become an expert in relevant data systems, and manipulate and analyze complex data to produce decision-supporting results for navy leaders. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert who is also technically balanced and able to interface with client personnel.

This position requires a SECRET clearance or demonstrated ability to obtain such clearance. This position is hybrid, requiring on-site work in Falls Church, VA as needed.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand complex business challenges, define analytical objectives, and translate them into well-structured technical problems.
• Identify the most suitable analytical methods to address specific challenges and objectives.
• Analyze, clean, and transform data from both structured and unstructured sources to extract meaningful insights that support decision-making processes.
• Validate and ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data through robust validation techniques.
• Support data collection processes by developing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines and preparing datasets for exploratory and advanced analytics.
• Work with data engineers, visualization specialists, and cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive, end-to-end analytical solutions.
• Evaluate and apply statistical, machine learning, or optimization techniques to solve analytical problems, aligning methods with the data and objectives.
• Design and develop dashboards, charts, and reports to effectively communicate findings, trends, and actionable insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide guidance on data-driven decision-making, and ensure alignment of analytical solutions with organizational goals.

• Bachelor's in Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Data Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Analysis, Business Analytics, Manpower Analysis, Operations Research, or related discipline
• 4 years’ experience with Python, R, or other languages in building statistical and machine learning models and delivering actionable insights.
• Experience in working with dirty data and conducting exploratory data analysis
• Proficient in extracting, transforming, and integrating data from multiple data sources for analysis
• Experience with SQL
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
• Ability to interpret complex data and present findings in a clear, concise, and actionable format.
• Experience in applying statistical analysis, analytics, and modeling techniques to answer stakeholder questions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Possess or be able to obtain an active Secret-level security clearance.

• Familiarity with SAS.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Master’s Degree 2 yrs experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to clearly explain analyses and present key findings to clients.
