Position: Full-time Receiving Inspector
Overview:
Hatfield Metal Fabrication, Inc. is a full-service metal job shop specializing in ASME, structural steel weldments, production parts, and assemblies. We are seeking a detail-oriented Receiving Inspector to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting and receiving incoming materials, ensuring the accuracy of deliveries, and maintaining organized records. Key Responsibilities:
Receiving & Inspection:
· Receive, inspect, and document all incoming materials to ensure quantities, part numbers, and specifications match purchase orders.
· Perform quality checks on incoming materials to verify they are free from damage.
· Use inspection tools (calipers, tape measures) to assess sheet metal thicknesses and finishes.
Material Handling & Processing:
· Unload trucks and freight from vendors using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
· Properly label, store, and route incoming inventory to designated areas (Inspection, Crib, Warehouse, etc.).
· Accurately enter data into the Infor ERP system or other inventory management software.
General Duties:
· Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and work area, including the removal of broken pallets.
· Perform rotating loading/unloading duties and assist in delivering materials to work areas as needed.
· Complete required inventory paperwork and assist with additional projects assigned.
· Repair and build pallets and shipping frames as needed.
· Carpentry Tool Proficiency: Ability to use basic carpentry tools such as circular saws, table saws, nail guns, and hammers.
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Previous warehouse and forklift experience preferred (Forklift certification will be provided if necessary).
Technical & Operational Skills:
· Proficiency in operating material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts, order pickers).
· Strong computer skills and familiarity with inventory management software (Infor ERP experience is a plus).
· Inspection Skills: Comfortable using calipers, tape measures, and knowledgeable about sheet metal thicknesses and finishes.
Organizational & Communication Skills:
· Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with internal teams and vendors.
· A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. unassisted; heavier loads (up to 75-100 lbs.) with assistance as needed.
· Must be able to perform frequent bending, stooping, and standing throughout the workday.
