Job Overview:
We are a Wholesale Food Company based in Hauppauge, Long Island seeking. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Level 1 Help Desk Technician to join our IT team. This role will be responsible for providing technical support, managing IT assets, coordinating with external vendors, and assisting with system-related issues. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth onboarding/offboarding processes, maintain IT infrastructure, and serve as a key liaison between employees and external IT service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Onboarding and Offboarding:
- Set up workstations, software, and accounts for new employees.
- Ensure proper removal of access and recovery of company equipment for offboarding employees.
IT Support and Maintenance:
- Provide first-line technical support for day-to-day issues (e.g., printers, computers and other devices.
- Maintain and troubleshoot shared network printers (e.g., Toshiba), including toner replacement and coordinating service calls.
- Assist outside sales representatives with IT-related issues.
Vendor Liaison:
- Act as the primary contact with the Managed Service Provider (MSP), Connected Technologies, for major IT issues, including server or Wi-Fi outages.
System Coordination with Programmers:
- Assist employees in identifying system-related issues or updates.
- Relay issues, updates, and improvement requests to programmers.
- Manage and track support tickets and coordinate with programmers to ensure resolution.
Device and Asset Management:
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all company devices, including workstations, tablets, and other equipment.
- Ensure all devices are accounted for, secure, and functional.
Documentation:
- Document and maintain detailed records of IT processes, troubleshooting steps, and solutions for common issues.
- Maintain logs of IT support requests and resolutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and basic networking principles.
- Experience troubleshooting printers, computers, and peripheral devices.
- Familiarity with IT asset management and inventory tracking.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to relay technical information to non-technical users.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with vendors and external service providers.
- Proficiency in maintaining documentation and creating detailed IT records.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Managed Service Providers (MSP).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot) and commonly used workplace software.
- Basic understanding of programming or system integration (preferred, but not required).
