We are excited to offer you the position of Summer Camp Director at Summer Haus, our premier youth summer camp dedicated to creating an unforgettable experience for children through engaging activities, skill-building, and a vibrant camp culture. Position Details

  • Position: Summer Camp Director
  • Location: Greater Lawrence Technical School (or other confirmed location)
  • Employment Type: Seasonal (Summer 2025)
  • Start Date: 6/23/25
  • End Date: 8/22/25
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
  • Training: Paid training sessions before camp begins

Primary Responsibilities

As the Summer Camp Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Summer Haus, ensuring a safe, engaging, and structured camp environment for all participants. Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, supervise, and support camp staff, including counselors, activity coordinators, and junior counselors.
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment for campers and staff.
  • Maintain high-energy leadership throughout the camp day.

Program Execution & Daily Operations

  • Oversee the implementation of the camp schedule, activities, and theme weeks.
  • Ensure each day runs smoothly and transitions between activities are well-coordinated.
  • Monitor camper engagement and adjust programming as needed to maintain enthusiasm.

Camper Safety & Behavior Management

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all activities meet Summer Haus safety standards.
  • Address any behavioral issues and conflicts, working with counselors and parents to find solutions.
  • Provide first aid when necessary and respond to emergencies effectively.

Parent & Staff Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, handling inquiries, concerns, and camper updates.
  • Lead daily staff meetings to review schedules, camper needs, and special events.
  • Support staff in problem-solving and provide coaching as needed.

Camp Culture & Engagement

  • Foster an environment that emphasizes teamwork, friendship, and personal growth.
  • Organize and participate in camp-wide events, spirit days, and special activities.
  • Ensure that each child feels valued, encouraged, and included.

Training & Onboarding

Before camp begins, you will participate in paid training sessions to ensure you are well-prepared. Training will cover:

  • Emergency procedures and camper safety guidelines.
  • Leadership and team-building strategies.
  • Curriculum, activity planning, and behavioral management techniques.

Expectations & Qualifications

We are looking for a leader who:
✔ Has prior experience working in a youth summer camp or educational setting.
✔ Possesses strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
✔ Can effectively communicate with children, parents, and staff.
✔ Is CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain certification before the start date).
✔ Is energetic, creative, and capable of leading with enthusiasm.
