Job Title: Bookkeeper


Reports To: Controller


Location: Rhode Island, mix office and hybrid work schedule as appropriate; remote for the right candidate


Schedule: Part Time (up to 20 hours/week) with opportunity to transition to full time

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. The Bookkeeper will play a critical role in the financial health of our organization by managing day-to-day financial tasks and supporting the preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records by applying cash receipts in Quickbooks Online (QBO), applying check payments, setting up new vendors in QBO, managing accounts payable and receivable by entering vendor invoices and initiating bill payments, recording other cash activities, and reconciling bank statements at month end. The bookkeeper works with the controller to ensure compliance with company policies and relevant laws.


Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Quickbooks Online experience
  • Computer proficiency plus knowledge and proficiency with use of company required software such as Brightwheel; Excel; Google products
  • Two years of experience
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Self starter and able to work independently
  • Demonstrate initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility
  • Ability to problem solve with teams and independently
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).


Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card/ debit card transactions with accounting records.
  • Monitor cash flow and report any discrepancies or financial issues to management.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports.
  • Work with external accountants and auditors (if applicable)
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date filing systems for financial documentation.
  • Respond to inquiries from clients, vendors, and colleagues regarding financial matters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience in Franchise Accounting is a plus as well as experience with software such a Qvinci or similar (used to measure franchisee performance).


What we offer:

  • Compensation: $25 per hour. Opportunity to transition to full time for the right fit.


Part-time benefits include:

  • 5 Sick Days-frontloaded (40 hours available for use 30 days following hire date)

Note this is not a full time position, but if it becomes one, our Full-time benefits include:

Note:

*Full-Time Employees are employees who work no less than 37.5 hours on a consistent basis

*Employees who work at least 30 hours on a consistent basis will qualify for medical benefits only
