Full-time temporary position is funded through September 2025, with possibility of becoming permanent based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
POSITION TITLE: HEAT Case Manager
POSITION LEVEL: Direct Service
SUPERVISOR: Human Trafficking and Housing Program Manager
ABOUT HAVEN:
HAVEN is a catalyst for individual empowerment and societal change: advocating for those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking and working to end gender-based violence. HAVEN has been serving adults and children affected by domestic and sexual violence for over 40 years. At HAVEN, we use a trauma-informed, client-centered service model, which focuses on the client setting the direction, establishing their own goals and objectives, and being empowered to make their decisions. This position IS NOT subject to mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse because 1) This position provides services to adults only and so is not subject to mandated reporting under CANRA OR 2) This position does not present in schools as part of a child abuse prevention program. Such a report, including sharing identifying information with a mandated reporter position at HAVEN, without following "release of confidential information" policies is a breach of confidentiality and can result in termination.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service delivery
- Conduct initial intake assessment with Human Trafficking victims
- Communication which facilitates a close working relationship between community organizations
- Model effective Crisis Intervention and Safety Planning skills
- Provide case management to Human Trafficking clients in shelter and housing program
- Provide all elements of the program. Activities include: intensive case management of human trafficking victims and their children, peer counseling, advocacy, risk assessment, court prep, court accompaniment, and crisis intervention.
- Oversee functionality of Human Trafficking housing program
- Identify and communicate issues that impede program goals or client access to services and safety as they arise.
- Provide mobile advocacy for clients when appropriate
- Provide Outreach and Education to staff and the community (Flexibility when attending trainings, presentations, or events as required which can include evenings or weekends)
Program Responsibilities
- Model professional demeanor as representative of HAVEN within a collaborative setting
- Act as liaison with Human Trafficking collaborative partners and represent HAVEN professionally and abide by agency confidentiality policies as part of FJC collaboration
- Act as program liaison with FJC collaborative partners to ensure partners are informed of HAVEN services and policies
- Prepare program-related reports as required by funders in a timely manner
- Represent HAVEN at community meetings and events as needed
- Turn in timecards, stats, reports and other paperwork in a timely manner
- Attend staff meetings and training as required
- Abide by HAVEN and Human Trafficking department policies and procedures
- Responsible for attending Collaborative Meetings as assigned. (ex: HOME Cohort and taskforce meetings)
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM / DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual: Preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Must have ability to display professional boundaries in a collaborative setting
- Must have basic computer skills for MS office
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to provide services to and work with diverse populations
- Must have ability to work independently as well as cooperatively
BACKGROUND CHECK: Post job offer, applicant must pass criminal background check. Subsequent criminal convictions while employed could impact ongoing employment eligibility.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS: Position requires maintaining California Driver's license, reliable transportation, ongoing proof of car insurance, and agreeing to annual DMV check as part of agency insurance renewal. Failure to maintain driving record consistent with agency insurance requirements will make person ineligible for this position.
