Title of Position: ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION LIAISON HAVERHILL HIGH SCHOOL
FULL-TIME POSITION (NON-UNIT POSITION)

Work Year: 2025-2026 School Year
Effective Date of Employment: Immediate
Salary: $ 48,000 to $51,000 (based on experience)
Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority: Reports directly to the High School Principal and/or his/her designee.
Statement of Duties:
- The Alternative Education Liaison position serves as
the bridge between the school and our at-risk students
and their families in navigating their High School
experience.
- Assist in developing programming to create a
HiSet/GED class, track students to ensure success and
assist with at-risk day students programming.
- Tracks students for placement in the GED/HiSet
program, identifying students for referrals to HP3
and/or Community Action, Inc. as would be beneficial
for individual students' needs
- Works closely with Night School Coordinators to assist
and collaborate as needed with programming,
scheduling, and student support.
- Use curriculum to select/adapt/develop appropriate
materials and methods that encourage student progress,
and align with MA (CCRS)
- Incorporate college and career readiness, technology,
and goal-setting into the curriculum.
- Use appropriate learning activities for the objectives;
demonstrate and explain clearly; provide for
reinforcement through guided and independent practice.
- Collaborate with HP3 to provide workplace readiness
programs
- Be willing to train, learn, and provide instruction of the
HP3 curriculum to provide lessons to day students on
financial literacy, goal setting workplace readiness, etc.
- Ensure active participation of all students in learning
activities.
- Integrate and supervise the use of
technology/computers for pertinent class material.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and meetings with
Community Action Inc. and Guidance as designated.
- Complete student progress reports.
- Monitor and track attendance and student goals and outcomes for enrollments for the day and the HiSet/GED program.
- Collaborate with Community Action Inc. Program Director, instructors, Administration, and fellow teachers to address issues as they arise.
- Maintain an effective working relationship and communication with other staff.
- Secure and maintain certification for standardized assessments (Massachusetts Adult Proficiency Test - MAPT)
- Select and develop appropriate materials and methods that encourage student achievement.
- Strives to share and promote various education programs offered at Haverhill High School with our Hispanic students and their families to increase parent and family participation in the student’s educational process.
- Attends meetings with our students and parents both in school and within the educational programs.
- Assesses situations and refers to appropriate administrators as needed. Works in conjunction with our attendance counselors and administrators.
- Works with our attendance coordinators in the Family Resource Center contacting parents of students who are not in attendance regularly and making home visits as needed.
- The Alternative Education Liaison is present during school lunches and in the halls in between classes for the purpose of providing visibility and availability to assist staff and students.
- Communicates immediately and regularly referring all potential altercations, suspicious activities, and policy
violations to the administrators at Haverhill High
School.
- The Alternative Education Liaison works daily to foster
positive relationships between home, school and the
community.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor's Degree preferred.
? Bi-lingual preferred
? Minimum three (3) years working with adolescent
children in a high school
? Able to work varied hours of a school day
? Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the
Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and
acceptable.
