ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION
Title of Position :
PRINCIPAL BOOKKEEPER – 12 MONTHS

Work Year : 12 Months
Effective Date of Employment : Immediately
Salary : 41,820 to $47, 272
Organizational Relationship or Line of Authority :
Directly responsible to the Assistant Business Manager and / or his / her designee.
Statement of Duties :
- Assists in the bi-weekly payroll in support of the Payroll Specialist.
- Data entry of employee hours.
- Employee deduction maintenance such as updating direct deposits, retirement contributions, tax withholding elections, etc.
- Dispersing employee paystubs, paychecks and vendor checks.
- Facilitate and reconcile Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System monthly reporting.
- Process MTRS applications for retirements, refunds, substitute buy-backs, etc.
- Assist City Retirement with new hire enrollments.
- Provide financial data for verifications of employment (mortgage refinancing, bank loans, etc.).
- Provides administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient business office operations by maintaining a filing system for all financial documents and ensuring the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
- Assume shared responsibility for the clerical functions in the Business office.
- Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages, retrieves messages and routes calls to the appropriate office staff.
- Assists in preparing all district, state, and federal reports as needed.
- Displays ethical and professional behavior in communicating and working with staff.
- Exercises considerable discretion in the protection and release of confidential information and in the interpretation and administration of policies and procedures.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and efficient office environment.
- Displays strong, positive communication and interaction skills when dealing with co-workers, students, administrators, parents / guardians, visitors and / or the community.
- Must attend work regularly and is punctual reporting to work and returning from scheduled breaks.
Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Superintendent of Schools, or his / her designees, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
