What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist position at Hawaii Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Centers?
Come join the largest Dermatology practice on O'ahu. We have 13 providers across 4 different clinic locations. This position would require you to schedule for any provider regardless of the assigned location. You will verify insurance at the time of scheduling and be required to follow all the different provider-specific scheduling parameters.
As a medical receptionist you will be responsible for the following duties:
Front Desk:
- Check in-patients, check out patients, ensure chart completion.
- Collect co-pays, outstanding account balances, and patient payments for service or products.
- Complete scans and upload into patients charts prior to the end of shift.
- Activate patient portals for the following day appointments
- Schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
- Ensure patient complete their kiosk and required forms on the iPad
- Scan insurance and ID cards into pt’s charts as changes occur or every 6 months
- Maintain a clean and orderly waiting room and restroom daily. Disinfect all surfaces & items for which pt’s contact.
Back Office:
- Answer phone calls. Limit the amount of time in unavailable/logged off status
- Register new patients in EMR to completion. (See scheduling checklist)
- Verify insurance/referral information at the time of scheduling & confirm eligibility.
- Check & return VM’s
- Schedule patient appointments following the provider’s templates & office protocols
- Manage appointment waitlist
- Complete appointment reminders for all providers daily
- Check & complete tasks throughout the day and in between live calls.
- Prepare schedules for the next day for the front desk.
- Take on additional tasks as assigned.
A high school diploma is required.
Must be 18 years of age or old.
The position requires attendance in office M-F. Occasional Saturdays and evenings (5-9pm as coverage permits)
Hours will vary. 7:45 am - 4:15 pm or 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Insurance eligibility experience is preferred but not required.
Must work well within a team.
Great customer service is a must.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
