JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Asphalt Roller Operator to join our construction team. This position is responsible for operating rollers to compact and smooth asphalt surfaces on roads, highways, and other infrastructure projects.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Operate asphalt rollers to compact and smooth freshly laid asphalt.
- Utilize proper rolling patterns to achieve density and smoothness requirements.
- Monitor and adjust roller speed, amplitude, and frequency based on project needs.
- Work with the paving foreman and crew to ensure high-quality asphalt placement.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.

Position Requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of experience in operating asphalt rollers.
- Strong knowledge of compaction techniques and rolling patterns.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, as required.
As part of the hiring process, candidates may be required to undergo a skills evaluation to assess their proficiency in relevant techniques and safety practices.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with various roller types (vibratory, pneumatic, double drum).
- Experience with intelligent compaction technology and GPS-guided rollers.
- Knowledge of infrared thermometers and compaction testing equipment.
- Ability to read and understand job site plans and specifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Climb and maintain balance on scaffold or walkway
- See well (either naturally or with correction)
- Distinguish colors
- Reach for, handle and grasp wires and hand tools
- Bend, crouch and work in small spaces
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Be comfortable working at various heights
- Able to work in tight quarters
Environment is exclusively outdoors; thus, the job often involves all weather extremes. Work requires alert individuals with balance and physical strength. Workers must be able to lift up to 100 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on a constant basis.
