JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Asphalt Screed Operator to join our construction team. This position is responsible for controlling the screed to ensure proper depth, width, and smoothness of asphalt during paving operations.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Operate and adjust the screed on an asphalt paver to achieve proper depth, slope, and texture.
- Monitor the flow and consistency of asphalt material being laid.
- Communicate with the paver operator and crew to ensure a smooth, even surface.
- Work closely with the foreman and crew members to maintain project timelines.
- Conduct basic maintenance and troubleshooting on paving equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.

Position Requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of experience in operating an asphalt screed.
- In-depth knowledge of screed operations, paving techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to make precise adjustments to achieve a smooth and uniform asphalt mat.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, as required.
As part of the hiring process, candidates may be required to undergo a skills evaluation to assess their proficiency in relevant techniques and safety practices.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proficiency in operating multiple types of paving equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Climb and maintain balance on scaffold or walkway
- See well (either naturally or with correction)
- Distinguish colors
- Reach for, handle and grasp wires and hand tools
- Bend, crouch and work in small spaces
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Be comfortable working at various heights
- Able to work in tight quarters
Environment is exclusively outdoors; thus, the job often involves all weather extremes. Work requires alert individuals with balance and physical strength. Workers must be able to lift up to 100 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on a constant basis.
