Heavy Equipment Service Technician shop and field tech Proctor,MN (greater Duluth area)

Hayden-Murphy Equipment Company is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel and gas equipment. You will make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, cranes, pavers, rollers, and more. Applicants should have some experience with diesel heavy equipment repair so they can determine what parts and tools are necessary for repairs. 12-volt and 24-volt electrical experience is required, along with understanding how to use a voltmeter and test light. You must be able to use a computer to run diagnostic tests and enter job information, and you need a valid driver's license to travel to job sites. As a dealer, factory training will be offered to a qualified tech to advance in their job. A field service tech will be required to travel, but not be gone for weeks at a time. We strive to keep nights and weekends for the techs to focus on home and family. This is a union job, Local 49 representing.

Job Duties:

• Positive attitude
• Basic knowledge of sizes of fittings and hydraulic hoses
• Strong knowledge of basic hydraulics and 12-volt and 24-volt electrical systems
• Must have safe work habits and ability to maintain safe working conditions
• Strong mechanical aptitude – technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical and primary functions of a broad range of equipment used in our industry
• Able to operate saw for cutting steel, plasma cutter, and oxygen/acetylene torch
• Must keep work area neat and free of safety hazards
• Personal appearance is neat and presentable at all times
• A polite and courteous manner is maintained at all times
• Must show up to work on time and be ready to work

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Understanding of computer testing technologies.
• Ability to lift 70 lbs.
• Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment
• Ability to work after-hours if required.
• Good communication skills.
• Must supply their own tools (up to 1 ¼ inch)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.12 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
