Principal Objectives of the Property Accountant
Principal Objective of Position: The Property Accountant is responsible for managing accounting functions, including cash management, payroll accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, consolidation and reporting. This position will also be
responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP, company policies and guidelines, as well as internal controls. This role will provide support to the Director of Accounting and other operational leaders as necessary with an added level of responsibility for special projects and analysis.
- Oversee the U.S. GAAP general ledgers, consolidation and reporting for company’s portfolio
- Perform all aspects of month/quarter/year-end closes, prepare monthly financial statements and quarterly reporting statements as needed.
- Complete monthly account reconciliations and other financial schedules as needed
- Record intercompany transactions, confirm balances and coordinate information with intercompany counterparts
- Prepare 9250 and 1199a forms as needed
- Manage the AP requirements of assigned properties
- Provide necessary information and act as liaison with auditors
- Perform ad hoc projects as needed
- Assist Director of Accounting in special projects as needed
- Assist Controller in special projects as need for corporate finance
- Manage corporate accounting
Requirements
Requirements for the Accounting Manager
Training/Education/Other
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
Experience/Skills
- 5-10 years of experience in corporate accounting is required
- Accounting software experience is required
- Yardi Voyager and/or Genesis2 experience is preferred
- Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
- Multifamily housing Accounting experience preferred

Essential Functions for the Accounting Manager
Accounting Performance
- Manage accounting functions, including cash management for each designated/assigned property
- Prepare monthly reporting packages and quarterly reporting schedules accurately and timely each month, quarter and end of year
- Prepare hoc IRS filings, business and property tax filings and governmental data surveys with timely submissions
- Prepare monthly consolidated trial balance, quarterly consolidated financial statements, and monthly account reconciliations
- Record transactions, confirm balances, and coordinate information with site level professionals\
- Prepare and process quarterly cash settlements
