Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. With more than 120 attorneys, we encompass a broad spectrum of transactional and litigation practice areas for large corporations, small businesses, and governmental entities. We currently have an opening in the Charleston, South Carolina office for an onsite, fulltime Legal Assistant for the Real Estate practice group.

The ideal candidate would process the following qualifications :

  • Currently reside in Charleston SC or surrounding areas
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree or Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a closing attorney's firm required
  • Title insurance knowledge
  • Experience with SoftPro preferred

Duties include but are not limited to :

  • Assist closing paralegals and attorneys as needed in all phases of a busy commercial real estate practice, including proper file indexing of documents and emails
  • Order title work, payoffs, zoning letters, tax bills, and any other documentation needed for closings
  • Preparation of engagement letters and conflict waivers
  • Opening of new files
  • Scheduling with clients, sellers, agents, lenders and vendors to process closings
  • Prepare closing documents for execution
  • Prepare post-closing transcripts
  • Process executed closing documents
  • Obtain and record mortgage satisfactions
  • Other administrative tasks for the real estate team (including billing, processing invoices and reminder statements)
