Position Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll in compliance with company policies and legal regulations. Key responsibilities include maintaining payroll records, calculating wages, taxes, and deductions, and handling direct deposits or issuing checks. They also address payroll-related inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. This role often involves preparing reports, coordinating with HR and finance teams, and staying updated on changes in payroll regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
- Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
- Payroll Admin will be responsible for End of Month process, disbursement of vendor payments (child support, optional benefits, uploads, garnishment payments, etc.)
- Processing of quarterly state reports.
- Completes VOE’s for varying agencies (banks loans, child support, EDD, management leasing companies etc.)
- Audit/process employee events such as new hires, salary changes, terminations, etc.
- Coordinates and maintains retirement records, eligibility, uploading, payroll entry and notice distribution.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Coordinates and is responsible for calculating commission worksheets for sellers and processing payouts.
- Process involuntary garnishment requests.
- Monitors all employee time cards online, on a regular basis for exceptions and notifies OM of discrepancies.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Manage and resolve timely all questions regarding payroll and investigate and resolve any errors in a timely manner.
- Must be extremely organized with good attention to detail, majority of the job requires multitasking.
- Assists HR Manager with monthly and annual reporting requirements as well as various other projects.
- Provide administrative and data entry support to HR and Accounting Departments (parttime in accounts payable).
Required Skills:
- Payroll experience (1 year required)
- Strong data entry skills (10key by touch)
- Strong skills Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Strong analyzing information and reporting skills
- Knowledge of wage withholding orders and garnishments.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a teamoriented environment.
- Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment
