Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing support and care to residents in a shelter environment. This position involves assisting individuals with daily living activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting a positive living experience. The Resident Assistant will work closely with residents, staff, and community resources to foster a supportive atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Monitor resident behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate staff members.
- Effectively de-escalates, diffuses, and monitors overall shelter environment for safety.
- Conduct intake paperwork and follow preventative procedures, including drug and alcohol testing
- Orient new arrivals to shelter protocols and policies
- Ensure all medications are logged on each individual’s medication log
- Provide support to residents as needed, to support their goals towards self-sufficiency
- Document any issues or items of note on the communication log
- Supervise all evening activities to include any life skills classes and/or any special events or meetings
- Perform walk-throughs of the facility during shift (at least every 30 minutes)
- Participate in on-call rotation (once every 6-8 weeks), working unexpectedly open shifts as needed during the designated timeframe.

- Ability to effectively work with individuals and families experiencing homelessness in a non-judgmental, sensitive, and compassionate manner
- Ability to effectively analyze situations quickly and apply sound judgment
- Ability to enforce shelter rules and policies.
- Ability to use Word, Excel, and Google Suite
- Ability to document and complete written reports in a timely manner.
- Ability to provide compassionate personal care tailored to individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, volunteers, and team members.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
