QUALIFICATIONS :
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting desired
High school diploma with at least three to five years experience in public school accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing or payroll
Bookkeeping experience required
Proficiency in math
Proficiency in typing and computer skills
Experience with Marathon software preferred
Proficient in the use of voicemail and e mail
Loyalty and discretion
Excellent public relations skills

Director of Business Services
SUPERVISES : N / A
JOB SUMMARY :
The basic function of this position is to assist in the coordinated effort to administer adequate and efficient accounting controls to the fiscal affairs of the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Processes computerized payroll information, including deduction corrections and adjustments to existing information.
Files monthly and quarterly reports.
Processes W4 forms for all personnel.
Processes and balances additional deductions such as tax sheltered annuities, health insurance, credit union accounts, life insurance, salary protection insurance, cafeteria plans, etc.
Maintains and checks personal and sick leave balances on employees in accordance with established policy.
Processes time reporting documents for all pay locations.
Answers questions concerning time reporting documents, payroll checks, and deductions on payroll checks.
Fills out various forms dealing with wages and deductions as follows : retirement, social security, welfare, unemployment, and garnishments.
Monitors all timesheets coming into business office from all departments and schools.
Submits names of eligible employees to Blue Cross, updates current changes, deletions, and additions.
Keeps abreast of all methods and procedures as they pertain to the functioning of the department.
Exhibits professionalism in all on-the-job interactions.
Follows district's overtime policy and fixed asset procedures at all times.
Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
Provides support to HR office for all payroll / insurance accounting issues.
Assists in the fostering and promotion of a positive school / office climate.
Maintains a professional demeanor during all interactions between colleagues, parents, students and administration.
