Commercial Construction Estimator

Nash Plumbing and Mechanical LLC, an employee-owned company, in business for over 50 years is currently seeking a plumbing/mechanical estimator, primarily for our commercial special projects division. This person will prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. They will provide knowledge of the cost and benefits that support profitable business decisions, determine key variables, and gather information from sites, blueprints, vendors, subcontractors, and experience. The estimator must also be thorough and adept in managing relationships with key people.

Responsibilities:

• Perform estimates from start to completion, utilizing Trimble Estimation software.
• Obtain bid documents for potential projects.
• Contact vendors and subcontractors for pricing for all estimates, where applicable.
• Attend walk-throughs for potential projects, making note of the geographical features of the site, access to infrastructure (roads, electricity, sewer, etc.), and existing building conditions.
• Attend pre-bid site inspections and pre-bid meetings as required.
• Consider all materials, equipment, labor, tools, and any other resources needed to complete the job.
• Preparation of bid documentation.
• Maintain an electronic filing system for all estimates.
• Prepare and present requests for design information and bid qualifications.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors.
• Remain involved in a project to help maintain the profit margin and handle any changes in the original estimates.
• In addition to monetary costs, one must consider the duration, scope, and potential profitability of a new project or product.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a plumbing and mechanical estimator or similar position.
• Must know current Plumbing and Mechanical codes
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam Revu, and Trimble Estimation Software.
• Ability to prepare estimates with minimum supervision.
• Thoroughness and reliability.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
• College degree or training in mechanical engineering and/or journeyman plumbing/mechanical experience preferred.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM (typically, but may vary)

Experience:

• Plumbing and mechanical estimation or significant plumbing and mechanical experience.
