What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Machine Operator position at HBD Industries?
Position Summary
The 2nd shift Machine Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC/NC machines to process parts according to design specification. This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Modify machine programs according to specifications
• Processes test part and does a first piece inspection and completes quality control sheet
• Makes necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards such as adjusting tooling offsets, electronic gauge and steady rest
• Performs simple maintenance on machines such as changing inserts
• Read and interpret routers and drawings
• Able to produce quality work and exercise judgment on quality acceptability
• Capable of performing at rates set by pre-determined time standards
• Able to perform in a team environment
• Required following all safety rules, use of proper PPE, and report any safety concerns
Experience and Education Required
• High school education or equivalent
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering specifications
• Ability to read various precision measuring equipment including scales and dial indicators
• Good mechanical ability
Technical Skills
• Ability to use various hand tools, hydraulic presses, air wrenches, electric motors, air gauges, bearing pre-load press, parts washer, and arbor press
• May be required to operate a forklift
Physical Requirements
• Able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects from 10-50 pounds continuously
• Flexible and overtime sometimes required
• Requires standing continuously and walking occasionally throughout the day up to ten hours
