Job Summary and Qualifications
Job Summary:
The Manager of Infection Prevention is responsible for the facility-wide activities of evaluating and managing infection risks to patients and personnel through extensive surveillance and an effective reporting system. The Manager functions as the hospital-wide clinical expert in the prevention and control of infection and is responsible for the facility-wide planning and implementation of the Infection Prevention Program, in order to minimize the probability of transmission of infection, thus providing a safer hospital for our patients and personnel.

Ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with peers, physicians, patients, family/visitors, supervisors and staff in other departments.

Ability to collect, analyze, interpret and document technical data.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of quality/performance improvement tools and techniques.
Team facilitation skills.
Knowledge of principles of adult learning and effective education methods.
Knowledge of regulatory (i.e. OSHA, CMS) and accreditation (i.e. Joint Commission) standards.
Proficient computer skills to include word processing, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and clinical systems (TheraDoc preferred, EPIC, MEDITECH, etc.).
Basic statistical analysis and data display skills.
Clinical knowledge related to processes of care.
Basic knowledge of infectious disease process and principles of infection prevention and control.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, Public Health, Microbiology, or Epidemiology required.
Knowledge of epidemiology, infectious disease management, microbiology, public health principles, and statistical analysis of clinical data required.
1 to 3 years acute care experience preferred; active participation in facility clinical improvement activities
At least 3 years of experience in infection prevention
Current state professional license or certification/registration as required by field of practice is required.
Certification in Infection prevention & Control (CIC) required
