What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Life Coordinator position at HCC Careers?
Responsible for the overall management and implementation of program activities and services that enhance student leadership, participation, good citizenship, success and retention. Prepares, manages and monitors club/organizational budgets, inventories and external contracts.
Plan, direct, coordinate and implement program activities and services that promote student, participation and encourage faculty and student interaction.
Interpret policies, procedures, issues and provide appropriate directions for their implementation.
Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate methods for promoting and publicizing student events and activities through the design of calendars, announcement boards, bulletins, flyers, posters, brochures, articles, etc.
Advise new student clubs and organizations about the construction of their constitution and by-laws.
Assess and analyze student needs, interests, and activities, policies, goals and objectives through surveys, questionnaires, interviews, etc.
Plan and conduct leadership training opportunities (e.g., workshops, seminars, meetings, conferences) for faculty advisors and student leaders to inform them about new, revised and updates on policies and procedures.
Serve as an advisor for the Student Government Presidential Council.
Prepare and present status reports (e.g., weekly, monthly and annual) to the college administration.
Actively participate in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the system-wide leadership conference.
Assist with registration activities as assigned.
Participate in college outreach and recruitment activities by providing financial aid, class schedule, and registration information.
Serve on college, and system-wide committees related to student activities functions.
Responsible for hiring, managing, mentoring and evaluating assigned personnel.
May work a flexible schedule, including evening and/or weekends Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in counseling or other student services related area.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years of experience demonstrated an academic related environment and in a community college academic or student service area.
Experience with outreach activities between a college or university and the community
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organization and written and oral communication skills
Demonstrate a commitment to student diversity and the ability to work with a racially and culturally diverse student body, faculty, and staff
Ability to work a flexible schedule. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be required
Ability to work independently; ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines
Proficiency with personal computer various software packages such as MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). PeopleSoft network use a plus
