Job Summary: The Daycare Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a daycare facility, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves managing staff, maintaining compliance with local regulations, developing programs that foster child development, and engaging with parents to ensure a positive experience for children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate curriculum and activities for children.
- Ensure activities meet the developmental needs of children in accordance with licensing regulations.
- Plan and oversee educational and recreational activities to stimulate social, emotional, and cognitive growth
- Staff Management and Training:
- Recruit, hire, and train daycare staff, including teachers, caregivers, and administrative personnel.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate staff performance regularly.
- Provide ongoing training opportunities to maintain compliance with industry standards and improve caregiving skills.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure the facility complies with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding child care.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and families.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility, equipment, and outdoor areas.
- Handle emergencies and incidents appropriately and document them as required.
- Parent Communication and Relations:
- Foster strong relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication (e.g., meetings, newsletters, events).
- Address parent concerns, feedback, and suggestions promptly and professionally.
- Keep parents informed about their child's progress, development, and any behavioral or health concerns.
- Financial and Administrative Duties:
- Oversee budgeting, billing, and payroll processes for the daycare center.
- Manage supplies and resources to ensure the daycare is fully equipped for daily operations.
- Handle enrollment processes, including managing waitlists, tours, and registration.
- Marketing and Community Outreach:
- Develop and implement strategies to promote the daycare center to potential families.
- Participate in community events and networking opportunities to raise awareness of the daycare.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, or management (preferably 3 years).
- Strong knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate learning techniques.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds (as needed).
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods.
