Compensation: $63K-$78K per year
Job Type: Full Time. Monday - Friday. Day shift.
Our client, a school dedicated to supporting children with disabilities, is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for their Bronx, NY location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Child Therapy & Support: Implement treatment plans developed by the physical therapist to support children's mobility, strength, and coordination. Assist children in performing therapeutic exercises and activities to improve motor skills, balance, and posture.Monitor children's progress during therapy sessions and report any concerns to the physical therapist. Encourage participation in movement-based activities that promote physical development in a fun and engaging manner.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Contribute to developmental assessments by observing movement patterns, posture, and coordination under the supervision of the physical therapist. Assist in gathering information about each child’s physical abilities, challenges, and therapy goals. Provide feedback to the physical therapist regarding a child's response to therapy interventions.
- Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, progress notes, and any concerns related to a child's physical development. Communicate effectively with the physical therapist, teachers, and caregivers regarding therapy goals and strategies. Educate teachers and caregivers on exercises and strategies to support physical development in the classroom and at home.
Job Requirements:
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program
- Valid New York state licensure as an Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
