We are seeking a motivated IT QA Lead to broadly establish QA capability, including supporting the design and implementation of Guidewire InsuranceSuite, with a priority focus on PolicyCenter, for our commercial insurance business. This role requires establishing and growing leading fit-for-purpose QA practices, designing and implementing testing strategies, and ensuring the highest quality standards are met for all IT systems, applications, and software releases.
This role is an exciting opportunity for an emerging QA expert to develop deep technical expertise in Guidewire while contributing to establishing strategic capabilities within the organization. Familiarity with various QA methods, tools and accelerators approaches across vendor platforms, as well as insurance industry experience, is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a Quality Assurance CoE
- Lead and mentor the QA team, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and ensure a high level of performance.
- Develop and implement test strategies and test plans based on project requirements, business needs, and system specifications.
- Oversee the execution of various types of testing (functional, regression, integration, performance, etc.) to ensure system stability and reliability.
- Lead initiatives for automation testing by identifying suitable tools and scripting automated tests to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
- Identify, track, and report defects, ensuring they are resolved in a timely manner. Provide clear, concise defect reports and recommendations.
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and project managers to define testing requirements and scope, ensuring alignment with business objectives and expectations.
- Maintain thorough documentation for all test cases, test results, and issues. Ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices for QA processes.
- Evaluate potential risks in the testing process and work proactively to mitigate them, ensuring smooth project delivery.
- With a Quality Engineering focus, follow and identify new age automation techniques to design and update existing test automation frameworks, as well as design and help build new test automation capabilities
- Prepare and present regular status reports to management, outlining the quality metrics, test progress, and any potential risks or issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 7 years of QA experience to P&C Insurance clients focused on operating model transformation, business process improvement, business capability uplift, etc. with knowledge of insurance products, services, channels, functions, and processes
- 3 years of demonstrated ability to identify, shape and lead transformational initiatives in the Insurance industry, working collaboratively with client senior leaders and teams
- Building a Testing Center of excellence for the organization
- Experience with the following: MicroFocus UFT, Rational Tools, and Open Source Automation Tools (ex: Selenium, Cucumber, SoapUI, PostMan, RESTAssured, Mockito)
- Previous application experience in any COTS products, with a strong preference for Guidewire. (e.g. Guidewire, OneShield, Majesco, DuckCreek)
- Tracking and reporting SLAs and KPIs in a managed service testing engagement
- P&C Insurance applications specific to distribution, sales, service, product management, claims, customer experience & analytics
- Defining the test strategy, planning, implementing and quality assurance for large complex projects
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and various project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Familiarity with database testing (SQL) and web services testing (API testing).
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes and tools.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages for automation (Java, Python, C# etc.) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Guidewire PolicyCenter, with exposure to configuration, scripting (Gosu), and integration mechanisms including GW Cloud Integration/API Gateway.
- Familiarity with Guidewire SurePath and Guidewire Testing Framework, with a preference
- Relevant certifications such as CTAL-TM, CSTE, CMSQ, CSQA or other specialized IT certifications.
- Experience with cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure) and cloud-native architecture principles.
- Working knowledge of web services (SOAP and REST), data transformation, and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with integration middleware and tools, such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in delivering within one or several of the following industry functions: P&C Underwriting, Claims (Personal or Commercial)
- Knowledge of insurance business processes, including understanding of visualization, orchestration and integrations tenets within underwriting, policy administration, claims, and billing.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive presence.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Teams, Jira/Confluence and SharePoint.
