Position Overview
Directs the day to day operation, administration, and maintenance of the child development program and the facility. Manages and develops center staff to operate a safe and efficient center including being available to address parent, child, and staff issues. Serve as a content-area expert within the State of Michigan Licensing Rules and Regulations to ensure all rules are being followed and complied with.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but not limited to the following:
- Ensures the implementation of the Head Start Program in accordance with the Federal Performance Standards and the State of Michigan Licensing Regulations
- Maintains an orderly, healthy and safe environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children in compliance with agency, state and federal guidelines and regulations
- Ensures classrooms are utilizing the designated curriculum in alignment with the Agency’s School Readiness Goals
- Conducts regular monitoring of classrooms through various tools including but not limited to daily safety checklist, classroom monitoring, health and safety screener, CLASS, and CACFP
- Monitors and Reviews MBI/MBO data for continuous quality improvement
Required Education and Experience*
- One of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with a stated major in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (or) a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a child-related field including 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and 480 hours of experience (or) a Bachelor’s degree in any area that includes a minimum of 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and 1920 hours of experience.
- Must have or complete a minimum of two (2) semester hours in childcare administration within six (6) months of hire in accordance with the Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers
- One year of supervisory experience and two years of experience in Head Start or other preschool programs
