EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
Education/Certification
Bachelor of business administration degree or Bachelor of science degree in accounting, finance, or related field with a concentration in accounting; CPA required. Nonprofit organizations experience a plus.
Required Knowledge
Working knowledge of and experience with computer software
programs including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Chief Financial Officer ensures the organization adheres to federal and state regulations for reporting and procurement while complying with GAAP for financial accounting and reporting.
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Oversees, directs, and ensures the integrity, preparation and timely submission of the firm’s financial statements including all federal filing requirements.
- Leads financial planning, financial reporting, auditing, compliance, and finance operations including accounting, fixed assets, and accounts payable.
- Ensures that appropriate financial controls, including internal reviews and external auditing, are in place.
- Evaluates and advises on the financial impact of new programs, regulatory compliance, and funding activities.
- Oversees the agency’s annual budgeting process including preparation of federal grant applications and related budgets as well as procurement, leases, and contracts.
- Manages treasury and cash management functions including grant funds.
- Participates in the communication of the agency’s results of operations, accounting procedures and policies, forecasts, and other relevant financial information with stakeholders.
- Works as an active team member with other support staff and center staff.
EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
- Ten years of progressive experience related to the duties and responsibilities of a chief financial officer, chief accounting officer or controller.
- In-depth knowledge of financial accounting and reporting procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a demanding and dynamic environment.
- Creative, analytical, and strategic thinker with a strong intellect.
- Strong leadership, management, teambuilding, planning and interpersonal skills.
- Articulate, decisive professional who communicates effectively with a wide spectrum of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting and payroll/human resources software as well as spreadsheet preparation and analysis
