Job Summary : The Kitchen Assistant plays a crucial role in meal preparation and maintaining a hygienic kitchen environment.
General Accountabilities :
- Inspect and maintain cleanliness in food preparation and serving areas, ensuring adherence to safe food-handling practices.
- Monitor and regulate cooking equipment temperatures to ensure proper cooking and storage temperatures.
- Manage food freshness by monitoring inventory, rotating stock, and checking for quality.
- Follow recipes and use judgment to season and cook foods appropriately.
- Prepare a variety of foods using baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming methods.
- Test foods for proper cooking and doneness.
- Prepare fruits and vegetables for consumption by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding.
- Skillfully carve and trim meats for service.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment by hand or using dishwashers.
- Supervise nightly cleanup crews, ensuring proper storage of leftover food.
- Manage service line and volunteers, maintaining portion control and food service standards during service.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including work areas and equipment.
- Properly store clean dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Dispose of trash and clean garbage cans.
- Perform sweeping and scrubbing of floors.
- Adapt to any additional duties as assigned by the company.
