Job Description
Job Title: Optometric Technician/Optometric Assistant
Job Type: Permanent
Reports To: Optometrist
Status: Non- Exempt
Job Overview: Under the direct supervision of the Optometrists, the Optometric Technician/ Optical Assistant is the first point of contact for patients. He or She welcomes customers into the clinic, conducts pre-screening tests and helps patients select the correct frames and lenses for their prescription.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform preliminary testing on patients prior to seeing the optometrist.
Assist patients to select frames that are appropriate for them and in the preferred style and color they want.
Cleans exam room and lab between patient visits according to protocol.
Prepare work orders for the optical laboratory that relate to the grinding and mounting of lenses in the chosen frames.
Handle administrative duties that include tracking inventory, recording sales, submitting patient insurance information, bookkeeping and client records.
Assists with maintenance and inventory of equipment, supplies, and restocks exam rooms.
Maintains infection control standards.
Assists with assessments required for visits, audits, and other regulatory guidelines.
Assists with training of newly employed staff as directed.
Comply with all Health Care Partners of South Carolina policies and procedures at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must be knowledgeable about eyewear products, including frames, lenses, and accessories.
Must possess strong customer service and communication skills to help patients find the right products for their needs.
Education/Certification/Licensure:
- At least a High School GED/Diploma.
At least one (1) year of experience in customer service
