EHS Land Use Sanitarian – Full time / Harbor Springs
The Land Use Sanitarian is the primary contact for Environmental Health Services programs in Emmet County, and provides support for services in Antrim, Emmet, and Charlevoix counties, acts as a professional representative of the Health Department of Northwest Michigan, and is responsible for the execution of general environmental health programs, such as, but not limited to -
- the on-site sewage and water supply programs
- nuisance complaints
- mobile home parks
- campgrounds
- swimming pools
- DHHS and other licensed facility inspections
- regulation enforcement and compliance associated with these programs
- involvement in Public Health Emergency Preparedness exercises
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, science, engineering, or related field is REQUIRED, with Michigan or Nationally Registered applicants highly desired. One to three years of environmental health inspection and compliance activities is preferred, although no specific prior experience is required. Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator’s license and current automobile insurance is necessary.
The Health Department of Northwest Michigan offers a competitive wage, (minimum annual wage of $64,563.20 with further consideration for national or Michigan registered applicants,) an excellent benefit package, and generous paid time off.
