Duties Description The Analytics and Research Unit Analyst (Data Analyst 1) supports the Division’s data-driven decision-making by developing data models, analyzing EMS and trauma datasets, and contributing to business intelligence solutions. This entry-level position performs data extraction, quality checks, and trend analysis while assisting in the creation of reports, dashboards, and visualizations. The analyst also supports the implementation of EMS data reporting standards and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance data quality, compliance, and program insights that inform modernization and performance improvement initiatives. Duties include: Data Modeling and Analytical Support: Collaborate with team members to develop and refine data models that support EMS-related analytics use cases and programmatic decision-making; Draft technical requirements and data definitions in coordination with program and IT staff to guide data system enhancements; Identify trends, correlations, and patterns in EMS and trauma-related data to support strategic planning and performance improvement efforts; Provide input on current analytic approaches and recommend improvements to enhance data accuracy, usability, and insight generation.Data Extraction, Aggregation, and Quality Assurance: Extract and aggregate EMS data from multiple systems and repositories, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the data; Perform routine and ad hoc data quality checks to validate completeness, consistency, and compliance with reporting standards; Support the identification and mitigation of anomalies, errors, or irregularities in EMS datasets; Assist in the implementation and documentation of data validation protocols and workflows.Business Intelligence and Reporting: Assist in the design and development of business intelligence tools, dashboards, and reports that translate raw EMS data into actionable insights; Use analytic software and querying techniques to support periodic and on-demand reporting efforts; Summarize analytic results and prepare written reports, visualizations, and presentation materials for internal use and external stakeholders; Support the division’s EMS modernization goals through the development of clear and user-focused data reporting products.Support of EMS Data Standards and Modernization: Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of EMS data reporting standards and protocols; Collaborate with internal program staff and external partners to align data collection and reporting efforts with best practices and regulatory expectations; Provide technical assistance in the application of national EMS data standards (e.g., NEMSIS) and support compliance with these standards.Team Collaboration and Capacity Building: Participate in internal team meetings, workgroups, and knowledge-sharing activities to enhance skills and stay current on emerging data analysis techniques; Collaborate with fellow analysts and other program areas to support shared data goals and cross-functional initiatives; Assist in developing and delivering presentations to support internal data literacy and promote data-informed decision-making across the Division.
