POSITION SUMMARY:
To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: Enhancing patient care and assisting licensed personnel in delivery of care through the most productive utilization of the individual’s skills.
Engagement:
- Associate supports engagement through adherence to the Health First I CARE values.
Quality/No Harm:
- Participate in orientation for preceptor ship of associates.
- Properly maintains Acecide-C Tracking Record/Acecide-C Test Strip Record/Test strip new bottle record/Test strip daily record/Tracking of Olympus Endoscopic Reprocessor (OER)/Tracking of leak testing and disinfection of Endoscopes/Records Endoscope Storage closet cleaning.
- Consistently follows universal precautions and wears proper PPE per set ASGE/SGNA standards.
- Demonstrates proper daily maintenance of equipment to ensure proper reprocessing of endoscopes. Assists in management and troubleshooting equipment failures.
- Follows proper procedure for service and/or repair of endoscopes, accessories and Custom Ultrasonic Reprocessors.
- Follows manufacturer guidelines for leak testing of endoscopes, manual cleaning and reprocessing of endoscopes and accessories to provide high level disinfection.
Customer Experience:
- Introduces self and wears name badge.
- Works with physicians and staff to keep up with patient flow/demand for scopes.
- Demonstrates communication skills that promote harmonious interactions with co-workers.
Stewardship:
- Demonstrates dependability, reliability and flexibility.
- Demonstrates ability to share workload evenly and complete work in a timely manner while increasing productivity, to meet high patient volumes.
- Handles delicate endoscopes with care to prevent damage. Ensures that endoscopes are hung and stored appropriately per manufacturer guidelines.
Work Experience
Responsibilities:
- Perform reprocessing of endoscopes and related equipment according to established protocols and guidelines
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of all equipment and instruments
- Maintain accurate records of reprocessing activities and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed
- Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff
- Collaborate with the GI Lab team to ensure efficient and timely turnover of equipment and instruments
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with reprocessing techniques and protocols
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold current AHA BLS healthcare provider completion card prior to start date and maintain.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and SGNA guidelines for the processes done in the decontamination room, preferred.
- Know and understand manufacturer guidelines for endoscope reprocessing, preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Exposure to bio hazardous waste, substances and unknown diseases.
- Sitting and standing for extensive periods of time.
- Frequent lifting, pulling and reaching. Ability to carry light to heavy objects.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. unassisted up to 6 times daily.
- Must be able to stand, walk bend and stoop for 90% of assigned shift.
- Must have the ability to work variable hours within a work day to support the position based on physician case load.
