POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully engaged in providing superior quality, competitive value and outstanding nursing care with respect to patient expectations, cultural, spiritual and age specific individual needs. Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a RN.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
- Demonstrates effective administration of medications and IV therapy as evidenced by\: Preceptor Observation Tool and Clinical Practice.
- Documents all nursing care, change in condition, response to therapy, treatments, procedures, and referrals on patient record to meet standards.
- Monitors patients as per established standards. Gives patient summary reports to RN at start of shift and is responsible and accountable for reporting changes in patient status to RN throughout the shift.
- Follows interdisciplinary plan of care, coordinated by the RN, based on current evidence based practice.
- Demonstrates effective and safe clinical practice as evidenced by completion of yearly Competency Assessment.
- Demonstrates dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
- Responds to call light in a timely manner.
- Utilizes Health First computer systems with regards to order entry, order inquiry, and patient documentation.
- Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare team and promotes effective team functioning.
- Provides patient, family, and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care.
- Uses and cares for equipment and supplies economically.
Qualification:
- Graduate of an approved school of practical nursing.
- Current Florida LPN license or endorsement.
- Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
- Must hold Florida State approved 30-hour IV Certification which contains the minimum 4 hours of instruction relevant to Central Lines within 90 days of hire
- Certification(s) as required by specific unit.
- Meets unit-specific care requirements.
- Must be able to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language
- Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks.
- Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Must be able to lift, turn, pull, push or ambulate patients/equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted up to 33% of the assigned shift.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift
- Potential for exposure to biohazardous waste, and known or unknown diseases
MENTAL DEMANDS\:
- Must have ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
- Must have ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
- Must have ability to respond appropriately to life threatening situations.
Salary : $42,100 - $53,300
