Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary
The Buyer / Planner forecasts, plans, and purchases supplies for the organization ensuring that the level of supplies meets the OR schedule and stock levels required to maintain operational continuity. The Buyer / Planner delivers efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet OR requirements. Maintains strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure supply of materials meets requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Using Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), forecasts and schedules the supply of materials / components, including day-to-day purchase order release and management, to meet the Surgery schedule requirements and minimum safety stock levels.
- Lead internal and external relationships to ensure consistent, timely and effective communication regarding material availability.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries are made on time.
- Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on the Surgery schedule.
- Timely resolution of material shortages that affect the Surgery schedule.
- Implement all processes to standards and targets, support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.
- Utilize SAP-MRP and ensure that data is accurate and up-to-date and resolve any issues identified.
- Monitor the integrity of Preference Cards
- Manage inventory accuracy. Monitor inventory levels against agreed upon target levels.
- Minimize obsolete stock and ensure business is left with minimum liability
- Create regular statistical reports and analysis for others in the organization.
