What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Referral Specialist position at Health Outcomes Centers?
We have an opening for a Medical Referral Specialist who will work collaboratively with our team of dedicated physicians and advanced practice providers.
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, detailed-oriented, and efficient. Strong oral/written skills and experience working as a medical referral specialist in an outpatient setting required.
Schedule is in office, full-time weekdays. Candidate must be able to reliably commute to our San Antonio medical center area office.
Job duties may include but are not limited to:
- Maintains basic understanding of insurance authorization and/or referral requirements.
- Answers incoming phone calls related to authorization and referral
- Coordinates medical record information for transmission to specialist office.
- Communicates important information regarding authorization and/or referral information to patient and/or specialist in a timely manner.
- Creates authorization and referral requests as needed.
- Coordinates with primary care offices and specialty office as needed.
- Follows up with specialist and/or patients after the referral process has been completed.
- Works efficiently with all departments to promote teamwork within the organization.
Education
- High school or equivalent (required)
- Minimum of 1 year medical referral specialist experience in outpatient setting (required)
- Spanish (preferred)
