SUMMARY: The Insurance Follow-up Representative position is responsible for all insurance follow-up on assigned accounts from the management team. The core responsibilities of an insurance follow-up representative include research, insurance billing and adjustment identification to ensure proper account resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Obtain Claim Status via the telephone, internet and/or fax
2. Review and interpret contractual terms for Managed Care, Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and Workers’ Compensation
3. Obtain supporting documentation regarding insurance follow-up efforts
4. Identify contractual and administrative adjustments billing via electronic and hard copy submission
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years previous work experience as an insurance follow-up representative or Accounting is required. Must have full understanding of insurance follow-up processes (i.e., Billing, Collections, Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Practices), and well-developed interpersonal skills.
SKILLS:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
2. Reliable attendance record
3. Knowledge of EOBs, CPT and ICD-9 codes, HCFAs, UB92s, HCPCS, DRGs and authorizations/referrals
4. Good problem-solving skills
5. Ability to learn / stay abreast of relevant policies
6. Proficient computer skills
7. Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm
8. Detail oriented and well organized
9. Outstanding listening skills
10. Ability to perform under pressure in a calm manner
11. Basic math skills
12. High degree of accuracy
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is primarily sedentary. However, there may be some physical demands. Requirements include prolonged walking, standing, sitting or bending.
