POSITION SUMMARY:

Essential Functions Statement(s):
- Schedules, cancels, or reschedules all Medical Specialty/Radiology follow-up appointments.
- Removes cancelled or rescheduled appointments from the physicians’ schedules.
- Checks in patients through kiosk or manually. Ensures consents, co-pays, imaging, records are obtained from patient and distributed accordingly.
- Contacts patients regarding missed appointments and follows up on no show appointments.
- Cancels appointments of deceased patients within an appropriate timeframe.
- Transcribes physician orders appropriately using physician’s current orders.
- Schedules outside facility laboratory and radiology testing, internal scan testing, and/or radiology consultations building lab requisitions and lab and vitals.
- Assists physicians with hospitalizations as requested.
- Initiates prior authorizations as needed for outside diagnostic testing as required by the patient’s health insurance plan within the scope of the position.
- Monitors and reviews the physicians’ schedules on a daily basis, ensuring templates are followed and scheduling errors are corrected PRIOR to the patient arriving for the visit.
- Communicates openly and effectively with the physicians and professional staff.
- Ensures “call backs” are addressed prior to physician visits in order to confirm patients are reminded of their appointments.
- Reviews department inbox and ensures tasks are taken care of.
- Answers all phone lines in the POD promptly and professionally; including the physician phone line. Calls should be screened, messages taken, and the appropriate physician should be notified in a timely manner.
- Notifies Medical Assistants promptly of any add-on appointments.
- Assists with chart prep and scanning.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Three to seven years related experience preferred
- Minimum of two years experience as a Patient Care Coordinator or Medical Assistant
- Medical Oncology, Radiology Oncology, or Surgery Scheduler work experience a plus
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate computer skills and ARIA
