A leading children's hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join its Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) teams. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-level, specialized care to critically ill infants and children requiring continuous monitoring and advanced treatments.
Department Overview:- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) – 20-bed unit providing specialized care for critically ill infants and children or those recovering from surgery. More than 1,000 children are admitted annually, arriving via ambulance, helicopter, and airplane from across the western United States.
- Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) – 16-bed unit caring for infants and children recovering from solid organ transplantation, non-invasive mechanical ventilation (BIPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula), anticoagulant therapy titration, and post-operative specialty surgeries (ENT, neurosurgery, etc.).
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
- Assess, diagnose, and manage care for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU and TCUP
- Perform procedures, order diagnostic tests, and interpret results to guide treatment plans
- Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and ongoing care plans
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital protocols and regulatory standards
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent RN experience in a Pediatric ICU or Pediatric Acute Care setting
- Master’s Degree in Nursing with an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialization
- Applicants without PICU RN experience will be trained to cover Transitional Care only
- Minimum of six (6) months experience as a PICU or Pediatric Acute Care NP
- NPs without prior PICU experience will be trained to cover TCUP only
- Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Acute Care (CPNPAC)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
