Cascade Park Gardens, Tacoma's leading affordable Memory Care community, is seeking a Full-Time Behavioral Health/Recreation Technician. This role is essential for enhancing the overall well-being and quality of life for our senior residents. The position involves planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of activities and programs that support physical, mental, and emotional health. The Recreation Technician will also address behavioral health needs and help create a positive, supportive environment for seniors dealing with dementia and other behavioral diagnoses.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a range of activities tailored to the interests, abilities, and preferences of seniors.
- Conduct programs aimed at improving residents' mental and physical well-being, including activities such as sports, dance, music, art, and relaxation techniques.
- Monitor and assess residents' emotional well-being, noting any signs of stress, anxiety, or depression, and document changes in behavior and participation.
- Communicate available programs to residents and encourage their participation.
- Assist with resident care needs as required.
- Work flexible hours to meet job requirements and adapt programs as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- At least two years of experience in a social or recreation program, ideally in a boarding home or long-term care setting, with experience in both individual and group activities.
- Must be 18 years or older and hold a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to acquire or hold HCA/CNA certification from the State of Washington.
- Knowledge of nursing care practices, particularly in geriatric care, and understanding of state Boarding Home regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, team-oriented, and committed to creating an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
