Job Description
This position will provide recreational therapy services to adult patients primarily at our Regions Hospital Rehabilitation Centerour 21-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. Recreational therapists help to engage our patients in a revitalizing, holistic range of leisure interests and activities that promote an independent quality of life by providing treatment, education, skill development, leisure participation and community integration opportunities.
Our recreational therapists provide 1 : 1 intervention, facilitate group activities, and help facilitate independent leisure participation. They also are involved in helping connect patients to peer mentors and peer visitors, community organizations, adaptive equipment and transportation assistance.
Our Rehabilitation Center maintains CARF specialty accreditation in stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injury caremeaning that we hold ourselves to ambitious standards of care and provide ongoing training and personal development of clinical skills in these areas. We are also a Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems site, connecting our staff and patients to research opportunities and professional development in spinal cord injury. Ideal candidate would have at least 1 year work experience providing recreational therapy and experience in one or more of these diagnoses : stroke, brain injury, spinal cord, amputation, or complex medical / complex orthopedic injuries.
We work collaboratively as an interdisciplinary team, so we are seeking a rec therapist with strong problem solving and communication skills.
Work Schedule :
Tuesdays : 1pm-7pm (includes evening group)
Wednesday : 8 : 00-4 : 30
Thursday : 8 : 00-4 : 30
Friday : 8 : 00-4 : 30
Required Qualifications :
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreational therapy.
- Certification with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
