Hearst has an exciting opportunity for an organized, dynamic team member to join its marketing communications team in New York City as a Marketing Communications Coordinator. As a coordinator, you will be an integral member of the corporate communications team based in New York City, working closely with Hearst’s business units and executives to create informative, engaging content about Hearst’s culture and impact for colleagues and the wider world. You will work with colleagues at every level to promote the company’s objectives and keep audiences engaged via existing and emerging platforms.
The coordinator is a communicator, content creator and project manager. Responsibilities include writing, editing and proofreading copy and newsletters; supporting social channels and special projects; researching and implementing communication tools and strategies; coordinating with the Creative team for the design of content; and tracking of projects. Ensuring the consistency of all messaging and style is key. This position reports to the senior manager of marketing communications and will be in-office at Hearst Tower three days a week.

- Source and create compelling newsletter content, distributing and analyzing the content via Sailthru. This could include the Hearstlink newsletter, internal colleague newsletters, etc.
- Source and create engaging content to amplify Hearst values and objectives such as feature stories for Hearst.com, HearstLive video content, etc. Topic areas include key achievements across the corporation, new endeavors and initiatives, group successes, employee spotlights, ESG topics and more
- Source social content from across Hearst’s brands and business units as well as create new social posts across major platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter), compiling social analytics reports as required
- Proofread internal communications such as eblasts and newsletters for adjacent teams (e.g., Corporate HR, Benefits, Technology, Events), ensuring accuracy and that messaging, grammar and tone are appropriate, consistent and follow approved style guidelines
- Conduct ad hoc research and peer set audits to inform new tactics to grow readership and engagement
- Support development and execution of cross-platform marketing plans, including coordinating and trafficking with the Creative team
- Support content updates on technology products managed by the Corporate Communications team (e.g., Hearst.com, MyHEARST intranet and app)
- Compile weekly status reports, monitor feedback inboxes, update editorial calendars, schedule professional development webinars, gather data for annual analytics report, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, English, or relevant equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of experience in PR/communications/marketing (agency or in-house)
- Strong content creator and storyteller who understands audiences and brand voice
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills including AP style
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple functions confidently
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and stay organized
- Knowledge of Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and major social media platforms; Knowledge of Sailthru or similar platform a plus
- Ability to synthesize information and create accessible, cogent newsletters, marketing copy and more
- Takes initiative and work independently to meet deadlines and deliver high-caliber work

The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $58,000–$65,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary and eligibility for overtime pay will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications and education.
